Vinnie Vincent

April 15, 2008 at 11:22 am (Rock)

Some one just e-mailed me this press release. I guess this is what CC Banana was mentioning in one of our fuse episodes.

——-

As revealed during the March 14th episode of “Talking Metal on Fuse,” SplitScreen Entertainment has announced its upcoming tribute album, “KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent.” Though Vinnie himself has not released any new material in over a decade, “KISS MY ANKH” will pay tribute to the undeniable musical legacy of the former Kiss guitarist. Vinnie’s compositions are widely regarded as a highlight of the Kiss catalog and remain a staple of the live Kiss set list. Included on the tribute will be selections from the three Kiss albums to which Vinnie contributed, as well as the two albums he released with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Participating artists and track listings will be announced as they are confirmed. Further details can be found at the SplitScreen Entertainment website.

“KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent” is scheduled for a Summer 2008 release.

Artie quits Stern?

April 10, 2008 at 3:28 pm (Rock)

Man…. I’ve been listening to Howard Stern for over 20 years at this point, and I gotta tell ya today’s episode is a memorable one, although maybe for the wrong reasons. At some point around 8:15am, Artie Lange freaked out, attacked his assistant and then quit the show. Howard and the gang seemed really rattled. Sirius did not rerun of the show later in the day like they usually do. Hopefully Artie will get the help he needs and return to the show.

I am going to see Wyclef Jean perform a private NYC show tonight. Wyclef is a fan of hard rock music and I have always dug his music.

Metallica is one of his favorites.

——

The new Hulk trailer is awesome. I love how they are embracing the 1970s TV show in the trailer and on the site.

I can’t wait for this movie.

——

Chiller!!!!! I might be hanging out at this with Ostronomy and Chris The Bodyguard on May 2nd.

Lots of great interviews coming to the Talking Metal podcast in the upcoming weeks – Whitesnake, Def Lep, Darryl Keck, Halford and Del James (tenative).

—–

Del James will be doing a book signing for “The Language Of Fear” at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA this Saturday April 12th at 5pm.

M. Night Shyamalan’s movie, “Signs” features the line “There are no coincidences, only chance and fate exist” from Del James’s book The Language of Fear. It is on the page just before the first story.

March 27, 2008 at 5:20 pm (Rock)

“Till The End” is an original song that Zakk wrote while he was in the studio with us for our Talking Metal on fuse TV show.  It features Bumblefoot on guitar and he also produced it.  This jam/recording session took place at the Gibson Guitar showroom in NYC (the old Hit Factory) the night before Zakk’s sold out show with Ozzy at MSG on 12/22/07.   Check it out here:

Dr. Pepper

March 27, 2008 at 3:02 pm (Rock)

Yesterday, various media outlets reported that one of the nation’s most popular soft drinks, Dr. Pepper (owned by 7-Up), would give everyone in America, except estranged guitarists Slash and Buckethead, a free can of Dr. Pepper if Chinese Democracy is released this year.

Late last night, Axl Rose responded to this offer on the GnR website saying he was surprised and was unaware that Dr. Pepper was going to be doing this. I briefly spoke to Chris Kooluris of Ketchum for Dr. Pepper, who told me that neither Guns N Roses nor their record label are currently involved in this campaign. The people behind this offer are just die-hard GnR supporters who really want this album released – this year.

My current stance on Chinese Democracy is that the album is done. Universal Music Group needs to do whatever it takes to put this album out ASAP. Guns N Roses has made Universal 100s of millions of dollars and they need to use some of that money to give this already legendary album a fair promotional push. End of story.

BTW, Del James might be coming on the podcast.

I just ordered this book.

Here is th official press release.
———

After being out of print for ten years, THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR, a short story collection by Del James is now available once again as a Dell paperback by print on demand. One of the top-ten most sought after horror/sci-fi titles, THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR featuring an introduction by W. Axl Rose, the book contains fifteen terrifying tales that run the gamut from a married man about to murder his wife on the command of a dial-a-porn hooker, to outlaw zombie bikers, to a stoned teenager locked in a savage war with his television set. THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR also features the short story “Without You” which was the inspiration for the Guns N’ Roses video “November Rain.”

About the Author:
DEL JAMES is a meat-eating, pro-choice, sober, atheist. He writes horror fiction, screenplays, and music. As a lyricist, James has co-written songs with groups such as Testament, The Almighty, The Outpatients, and Gun N’ Roses, including two songs on GNR’s Grammy-nominated Use Your Illusion album. James has directed several music videos and written live television for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is currently finishing his first novel, A Celebration of Pain.
