Call me crazy but I believe we will see C.D. this year

September 29, 2006 at 1:34 pm (Rock)

I just got my tickets for the NYC (11/10) and NJ (11/05) Guns N Roses show.  The presale is happening now not at 12noon as some people were thinking.  GnR guitarist, Bumblefoot has some great solo albums out.  We plan to play one of his songs in episode 100 of Talking Metal.  I can’t believe we are at 100 already.  I would like to thank you to all the listeners and guests who have helped make these 100 episodes so fun.  Be sure to listen to this great episode on Monday.

Upcoming guests include Velvet Revolver drummer, Matt Sorum, on show 100 and CC Banana on 101…  Who knows maybe a little Bbf on episode 102 or 103….???  It could happen.  He is down in central NJ with Q-ball recording right now.  This GnR stuff is heating up big time.

My wife’s band the Mynks play in Central Park tonight…  That is so bad-ass!  See you there.  Tomorrow is Gigantour at PNC in Jersey.  Rain stay away.

Call me crazy but I still believe Chinese Democracy is coming this year – 2006.   They say a new GnR website might go up today – gunsnroses.com   and what the hell is up with this official site – http://www.gnronline.com/  ?????   Those dates listed on it aren’t even happening.

My Space

September 26, 2006 at 12:11 am (Rock)

I just heard a 2nd new Metallica track recorded live in Seoul on 8/15/06. It is great, much better then the other new track. This 2nd new track has more of a classic Metallica sound with a great Misfits sounding hook.

We opened a My Space page at myspace.com/talkingmetal = Please know that the best place to get your Talking Metal updates will be at Talkingmetal.com and not at My Space.

If you have iTunes on you computer check out my iTunes mix.  It is in the links section of this blog.

Anthrax join us on epsiode 99 of Talking Metal.

Senate – Kiss

September 15, 2006 at 4:30 pm (Rock)

Paul Stanley is running for office – REALLY.

The other Paul Stanley is doing a show here in NYC on 10/28/06 but I have a wedding that day so, unfortunately, I doubt I will be at this show.

Bruce Kulick will be our guest on Talking Metal on Monday. Bruce plays some bass on Paul’s new solo album.
Kiss is one of the greatest bands ever.

Hidden Talking Metal epsiode

September 14, 2006 at 5:14 pm (Rock)

We will be posting the hidden episode for the insiders later today – watch for an e-mail… it may go into your SPAM/BULK folder.

Rockstar Supernova – My wife and I have been saying since the first episode that Lukas Rossi would win. He was not the best singer of the bunch but he was the best fit for that band in our opinion. I liked Jill Gioia and I thought some of the others had better songs then Lukas but in the end, he was the right choice for the band. Toby’s original really rocked.

The tour is on

September 13, 2006 at 3:58 pm (Rock)

There are a bunch of GnR shows happening down in Florida. Look at the tour dates HERE.

I am really enjoying Bruce Dickenson’s DVD Anthology. You should all check this 3 DVD set out. His solo stuff is really great and very over looked.

Sales for last week. I pulled this off of BLABBERMOUTH
The following are notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending September 10, 2006, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (all CD figures are rounded to the nearest thousand, except numbers under 2,000, which are rounded to the nearest hundred; The Billboard 200 chart position included, where applicable):

AUDIOSLAVE – Revelations”: 142,000 (#2)
IRON MAIDEN – “A Matter of Life and Death”: 56,000 (#9)
ALICE IN CHAINS – “The Essential…”: 6,000 (#139)
BLIND GUARDIAN – “A Twist In The Myth”: 3,000

– Too bad the new Maiden isn’t selling better. It is really a great album.

Ex-DeGeneration singer Jesse has put out a couple great solo CDs. I am looking forward to the next one. I just read this on ANTIMUSIC. PR reports: Jesse Malin has just finished recording his third record titled Glitter In The Gutter, to be released First Quarter 2007 on Adeline Records/East West. This album follows his two previous critically acclaimed releases: 2004’s The Heat, and 2002’s The Fine Art of Self Destruction. Glitter In The Gutter was recorded in various studios over the summer in Millbrook, New York; North Hollywood, CA; and in Jesse’s native borough of Queens, New York.
Guests on the album include a special vocal performance by Bruce Springsteen, Chris Shifflett of the Foo Fighters, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, long time pal Ryan Adam.

MIKE PATTON IS not GOD

Next week’s podcast will have Bruce Kulick on as a guest. Talking Metal 4ever

Just saw this on Blabbermouth

September 7, 2006 at 2:53 pm (Uncategorized)

According to Hits Daily Double, word inside the Sanctuary Music Group is that Merck Mercuriadis will be leaving the company’s management team. GUNS N’ ROSES frontman Axl Rose is said to be leaving with Merck as a client of the longtime Sanctuary executive.

Rose has been saying that GUNS N’ ROSES’ long-delayed new album, “Chinese Democracy”, will be out later this year.   For more info go to Blabbermouth.net

Chinese Democracy before 2007

September 6, 2006 at 4:47 pm (Rock)

Baz is now signed to Sanctuary management – just like GnR.

Again, this comes from inside Interscope: Jimmy Iovine (head of Interscope) has heard as many as 6 finished tracks off of Chinese Democracy. Interscope would like to get this album out soon… hopefully before the end of the year. —— Quote from insider, “It is really happening.”

Axl told John Norris the other night at the VMAs that it is coming this year.

My co-host on Talking Metal, John Ostronomy, was with Axl the other night – see news here. We will discuss this in next Monday’s episode of Talking Metal

Check out the RnR Geek show episode 190 for an intervew with Sebastian Bach. The Rock N Roll Geek show is my favorite podcast.

Also, A couple listeners of Talking Metal are starting their own podcast called “The Right To Rock!” – check it out.

The new Maiden rocks!

I am traveling non-stop this month… Indiana, New Mexico, California, South Jersey…. Checking out from midtown Manhattan.
